Job Opportunity: Test Manager in Amsterdam

Role & Purpose

As a Test Manager, you'll hold a key position responsible for end-to-end testing within our program. Your main focus will be on bridging the gap between business and technical teams, creating robust support systems, and building an effective testing organization. You’ll guide both development and business teams in formulating the test approach, establishing acceptance criteria, and preparing test sets. Your expertise will facilitate complex changes and promote success across teams.

The overall test strategy is already in place; your task is to orchestrate and support its execution across a complex multi-system landscape. While you won’t execute the tests yourself, your role will include preparing all necessary components for successful execution (such as test data and use case administration), and coordinating teams and stakeholders to ensure delivery.

To thrive in this role, you should have demonstrable experience in designing and managing end-to-end test cycles in large, intricate banking environments that involve multiple domains and interdependent systems, both customer-facing and back-end.

What You Will Do & Your Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Execution

• Develop and manage a test strategy that meets both technical and organizational requirements.
• Coordinate technical acceptance tests to secure business approval.
• Ensure traceability from requirements to test cases and evidence across the end-to-end landscape.
• Apply and operationalize the existing test strategy; no need to design a new one from scratch!
• Prepare complete test conditions: create and curate test data, support use case administration, and ensure all prerequisites are met.

Planning, Delivery & Risk Management

• Plan, report, steer, and coordinate the testing roadmap while managing dependencies and identifying risks.
• Proactively anticipate risks early and guide mitigation strategies!
• Steer the end-to-end testing roadmap across complex programs with numerous moving parts and cross-tribe alignments.
• Collaborate closely with testers during execution phases to address functional and technical dependencies, ensuring clarity on expected behavior.

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Partner with developers, engineers, product leads, business counterparts, and management to bring quality solutions to life.
• Maintain regular contact with squad leads and other workstream leaders to track progress and resolve any blockages.
• Facilitate collaboration and decision-making across teams to eliminate impediments.
• Act as the central orchestrator across domains, ensuring alignments and dependencies are solid; work directly with manual testers and engineers to validate backend behavior and data flows.

Guidance & Oversight

• Ensure adherence to testing standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices, including test automation and data quality controls.
• Align functional, integration, performance, security, and data validation testing within a cohesive end-to-end test approach.
• Support technical troubleshooting when necessary (like reviewing logs and validating backend flows) to speed up issue identification.

Analysis & Reporting

• Translate business requirements into clear acceptance criteria and comprehensive test sets.
• Provide detailed test reports and quality insights tailored for various stakeholders, from detailed steering to senior management.

You will collaborate closely with multiple squads, program management, and colleagues across value streams throughout the program.

Experience in Banking Environment: Experience at ING is a strong preference.

With over 7 years of experience as an IT Integrator/Test Manager in banking, I have a proven track record of coordinating large, complex end-to-end test cycles involving multiple systems and dependencies.

I possess demonstrable knowledge of test automation, Agile methodology, and building test processes at scale. My extensive experience includes working with multidisciplinary teams and long-running delivery programs.

Additionally, I have an affinity for back-end technical testing, such as understanding logs, network calls, or data flows.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
